Another possibility for finding people in or from our #OnePlaceStudies with disabilities, suggested by the TNA guide I’ve linked to below, is WW1 pension records – perhaps Silver War Badge records too. Might also check newspaper reports of accidents. #OnePlaceDisabilities #OnePlaceWednesday
I have been checking censuses for my main #OnePlaceStudy for this reason too, and found very few. One ‘incapacitated’ man on the 1939 Register. I know a few OPS residents were admitted to asylums and need to collect the details (who, when, and why?). #OnePlaceDisabilities #OnePlaceWednesday
One of the things that’s struck me as I’ve been transcribing the censuses for #Sudbourne is how few people with disabilities I’ve come across. Anyone else finding many? #OnePlaceDisabilities

Our blogging and social media prompt for November is #OnePlaceDisabilities. Find out how, where and by whom people with disabilities, in or from your place, were cared for, what challenges they faced, and how they dealt with those challenges – then share their stories. #OnePlaceWednesday
Taking the opportunity on #OnePlaceWednesday to boost Helen’s post, and add that we have chosen #OnePlaceDisabilities as our blogging and social media prompt🔗 for November to tie in UK Disability History Month.
