Canadian Anemone or Anemonidium canadense
Makes a nice spring presentation. Slowly spreads. Likes compost and semi shade (but not full shade) here in W Oregon.

What would we do in W Oregon if we did not have the dependable Azaleas to count on! In the first photo is Hino Crimson Azalea with Iberis on both sides. In the second is Hino Digiri Azalea

Here is one of my beefs! Cherry Blossom season is the one short moment of the year when they are beautiful! It is also very obvious when the wild cherry below the graft shows itself! It is the taller white blooming section. If not removed, it will take over and kill the grafted tree! 🌱 #PNWGardening

One of my favorite Narcissus hybrids, a beautiful daffodil with cream cups and lemon yellow petals! It is a later blooming bulb, in the succession of Spring blooms, and seems to simply glow for me! 🌱 #PNWGardening

My Stylophprum is delighting in the early morning light!
It almost glows under the sword fern and the branches of the Hibiscus! It feels like such a blessing to be out watering and listening to the cheerful wren, the chorus frogs and the song sparrow sharing my happiness! 🌱 #PNWGardening

The hybrid Darwin Tulips are bold, big & bright! It is not hard to see however that the small species Tulips here are some of its many parent species crossed to arrive at it! I wonder if they were hybridized during the Dutch Tulip craze 200+ years ago!

Cats treating your new garden like a litter box? 🐈‍⬛

Sticks every 6" to break up their "landing pad," mulch with thorny rose trimmings, then race to fill in with groundcover aka 'living mulch' like Kinnikinnick or Wild Strawberry. No bare soil = no deposits

The Narcisdus bulbocoides are such cuties this time of the year! Great for full sun and gravelly sandy soil!

Evolution of a Garden Border Chickadee Gardens is a garden blog about drought tolerant and native plants. We have 2 acres and grow food. Oregon and West Coast gardening focused

New post up today at chickadeegardens.com about the evolution of a (rather large 300' long) garden border over the last 10 years. Gardening is an adventure, you never know for sure how it will evolve but it's fun to try new ideas. 🌱

Nothing like sunny yellow Daffodils to help us wake up from the dull gray days of winter…added them all over my gardens…not easy when gardening in a rock pile…

These are the current species Tulips blooming here at ThornHurst! (That is what we call our property)
We are so fortunate to be able to own 1/3 Acre here in Tigard. It is raining today and we need it here and in the mountains!
