Next time you're in #Osaka, go off the beaten path and check out a small monument marking an important event: the first #IJN fleet review. @oldtokyo.bsky.social has postcards from the last fleet review, off Yokohama in 1940, on their website that are worth checking out as well! #PacificHistoryGuide
The results of the undersea mapping at the #TsushimaMaru wreck have been released, along with videos and some small relics from the site. There will be a special exhibition at the Tsushima Maru Memorial Hall in Okinawa. #PacificHistoryGuide #NavalHistory #対馬丸

Can't thank you all enough! Really looking forward to year 2 of #PacificHistoryGuide
It's been 8 months since we passed 200 #Bluesky followers, and today we're just over 320. I can't thank you all enough for the help the visibility for #PHG. We'll soon mark one year since we first published the website online; I'm so excited to see what happens next. #PacificHistoryGuide
There aren't many museum ships in Japan, and almost none from the #ImperialJapaneseNavy. #Mikasa is worth every second of your time to visit, along with the rest of historic #Yokosuka. #PacificHistoryGuide is dedicated to connecting you with history, where you are. #NavalHistory #IJN
Hello #PHG fans, no new blog post today, but please enjoy this piece on the historic battleship #Mikasa in #Yokosuka, #Japan. The ship has a colorful history that includes time on the ocean floor, and as a nightclub. #PacificHistoryGuide #NavalHistory

#PacificHistoryGuide is dedicated to bringing areas of historical interest to you, however off the beaten path they may be. This memorial to the Stingray is not the easiest to access, but it is a place to consider the broader context of war, and the role of small-scale strategic sealift. 1/2
On the #PHG blog; we're in #Luzon, checking out this proud memorial to #USSStingray #SS-186. Small-scale sealifts such as the one that took place near here delivered vital support to the Filipino resistance. #Philippines #PacificHistoryGuide #NavalHistory

On today's #PacificHistoryGuide blog, a post from last year on a statue of Enomoto Takeaki in #Sumida-ku, #Tokyo. #武揚榎本 is a founding father of the #ImperialJapaneseNavy and one of the most colorful figures of the #MeijiRestoration.

In March 1942, the #ImperialJapaneseNavy took control of #Guam; a brutal occupation in which the #Chamorro people were forced to relocate their villages, surrender their food supplies, and perform hard labor. The memory of this period is still very much alive on the island. #PacificHistoryGuide
On today's blog, we're in #Sydney at the #FirstWorldWar Soldier's Memorial. If you've been here or want to visit, let us know in the comments! #PacificHistoryGuide

The Allied attack on Truk (now Chuuk) was billed at the time as 'Japan's Pearl Harbor', which turned out to be an overstatement. Rather, this was one more event in the slow and brutal death of Imperial Japan. Tourists visiting the wrecks is Chuuk's most important economy. #PacificHistoryGuide
We're headed to the #FederatedStatesofMicronesia today on the #PHG blog in order to look at an event that happened earlier this week; the Allied destruction of the Japanese Garrison on Truk (Chuuk), 82 years ago. #FSM #Chuuk #PacificHistoryGuide

My next visit to #Singapore will include a trip here. I can't imagine how the British felt, sitting across from a seemingly invincible enemy. Or the Japanese, knowing the army was running on fumes. The great losers in all this were the native Singaporeans and ethnic Chinese. #PacificHistoryGuide
Nearly all of my time in the #Philippines has been restricted to a tiny area in Metro #Manila; I really want to get into the provinces and see sites like this one. #PacificHistoryGuide
On this week’s #PacificHistoryGuide blog; the Dalton Pass Memorial in Luzon, #Philippines. A sobering reminder of the brutal fighting that occurred as the Japanese attempted to bleed the Allies dry at the end of the #SWW

You can always count on a historical event to show why current events should be handled with care and thought. #PacificHistoryGuide #Hawai’i
On today’s blog post: the overthrow of the Hawaiian Monarchy, which occurred #OTD 17 January 1893. #PacificHistoryGuide #Hawai’i

The Midway is the youngest aircraft carrier to serve as a museum. We had opportunities to have later ships (Indy, Kitty Hawk, Connie, JFK, etc) serve as the first conventional super carrier museums, but it was not to be. Midway is fantastic, but we could have had so much more. #PacificHistoryGuide
On today's #PacificHistoryGuide blog: the #USSMidway museum in #SanDiego! A fantastic place to get your naval aviation journey started, or learn more about cold-war era operations and aircraft!

I’m focused on improving the #Korea page of #PacificHistoryGuide and I’d like your help!
On today’s blog: we’re looking for help with our #Korea page! #PacificHistoryGuide

The #Japan pages of #PacificHistoryGuide are so much more detailed than those for #Korea and the #Philippines. I’d really like some more inside information on local historical sites in those places. If you can help me with adding some more detail, please let me know! Happy new year!
Greetings #PHG fans! One of our resolutions in 2026 is to add more complexity to our #Korea and #Philippines pages. If you have some knowledge of local history there, please let me know and we'll get you credited with adding some more context to the #PacificHistoryGuide. Happy New Year, everyone!
It’s been a fantastic year for the Boccia family, and a landmark year for me personally. From launching #PacificHistoryGuide to being a frequent guest on @ww2tv.bsky.social and published in the @thegreatwargroup.bsky.social, it’s been a whirlwind for sure and I am so excited for 2026!
Greetings #PHG fans! I hope you all had a great holiday season with your families. Today we’re recapping a whirlwind inaugural year for #PacificHistoryGuide. Thank you for all the support and I look forward to joining you in a happy and prosperous 2026!
