Tribute to Gale Pearson, Paeds Consultant Intensivist written by one of his colleagues at Birmingham Children's Hospital. Gale passed away in his sleep on 28th November 2025

A lasting legacy-Gale Pearson, Paediatric Consultant Intensivist. I would not dare to venture I knew Gale as well as his many medical colleagues, however I will say the numerous times I came into contact with him over the last 10 yrs, I found him to be a lovely human being. RIP Gale😔

We listen, we don’t judge, paeds anaesthesia edition: Consider chest wall rigidity if you’re doing a case with TCI ‘Remifol’ & you’re suddenly having issues with ventilation coz they may get boluses of Remi. Don’t just assume it’s bronchospasm or inadequate depth of anaesthesia 😌

Completely agree. As noted in the paper - children with medical complexity incl. #tracheostomy are often supported by paediatricians during childhood - but where is the “adultrician” when children become adults? Important discussions on lifespan needs & differences.
