Black and white photo, contrasty, gives the impression of being grainy but isn't. Background is a much crumpled and uncrumpled piece of Korean mulberry writing paper. The paper is a strip laid out on the floor, which is flecked lino.
On the paper a circle of Papaver somniferum (breadseed poppy) seed pods, the cultivar Hungarian Blue, that remains mostly closed after ripening - this trait deliberately bred in so the seeds will not spill. Nevertheless there are a couple of stray seeds on the paper. The crop is rectangular, including the whole width of the paper and a little of the lino on each side. The circle occupies less than half the width of the paper and is toward the upper left.
