Looking at posts on here using the word "eclipse" shows an astounding amount of nonsense. It's not a total eclipse. It's only visible from a limited part of the Earth. It will have no influence on people's lives.

Popular astronomy: the partial solar eclipse has started. It will be visible only from parts of Antarctica and the southern Pacific Ocean. New Zealand will see the eclipse immediately after dawn on Monday morning.

The partial solar eclipse will last from somewhere on the Earth from September 21d 17h 30m UTC to 21h 54m UTC.
If you're in Europe, Asia, Africa or the Americas, don't bother looking: it will not be visible for you.

Close-up image of a partial solar eclipse captured from Port Elliott, South Australia on July 13, 2018. The Sun's surface shows a small, barely visible indentation where the moon partially blocked its light. The image is rich in orange and red tones, indicative of a hydrogen-alpha filtered view. The eclipse was the smallest of three partial solar eclipses in 2018.

A breathtaking image of a partial solar eclipse setting behind a windmill in Texas. The crescent sun glows intensely against the reddened sky, creating a stunning spectacle of nature. The silhouette of the windmill and surrounding brush add to the dramatic scene. This photo captures the moment just after the ring of fire effect from the 2012 eclipse concluded.

Eclipse (2025) A surreal image of a partial solar eclipse as seen over the Saint John River in Fredericton NB Canada. PARTIAL ECLIPSE A scrap of white through dense hedges her hair or blouse. Day or night when you pass the porch, she sits between two pillars of paperbacks. At her left hand those unread, at her right the pile mounts through summer until one slides off into the brown needles. The glum face of the cover might mean something like the birds mean more than you are sick of them, how they fly at the slightest noise, your lover who cannot keep his mind on you. Who are you fooling with this fiction? She is you, if anyone, since you made her up out of this morning of mere disappointment in him—which means "no point at all" except in the partial eclipse that drops hooks and horns from leaf shadows, the only spectacle you're supposed to look at. Stay in the deep shade of the porch. The sun is harmful because the eye trusts it and opens and stays open even after the harm is done - Michelle Boisseau

Animation of #prominence activity from #AR14048 during a C-class flare on 29th March 2025, during the #PartialSolarEclipse I had to manually crop and align the images as best I could to try to show how quickly the region was changing #CoronadoPST 2x Barlow #ASI120MC camera, #SkywatcherAZGTi mount
Lots of activity on the #Sun during the #PartialSolarEclipse yesterday. Captured from #Oxfordshire, UK with a #CoronadoPST 2x Barlow & #ASI120MC camera. 2 C-class flares were in action during the time I was capturing, one from #AR14046 + #AR14048

#TimelapseVideo of the whole of yesterday's #PartialSolarEclipse captured from #Oxfordshire UK with a #WilliamOptics 70mm refractor, #ThousandOaks glass filter & #Canon1100D. I took a photo every 15 seconds for 2hrs. Unprocessed aside from cropping the video
Yesterday in #Oxfordshire the weather was better than we could have hoped for our #PartialSolarEclipse outreach event! We had between 15-20 people drop round during the 2hrs. We had eclipse glasses, projection, white light & H-alpha telescopes for people to view. Some nice optical effects too!
so this is what power from the partial solar eclipse feels like? #partialsolareclipse #solareclipse #hd
Slooh's Canary 5 Solar Telescope provided magnificent views of the partial solar eclipse. Usually when we watch solar eclipses we see no detail on the Sun. We had the best of views - a chunk out of the Sun as well as some stunning surface features #Slooh #partialsolareclipse
So, finally compiled ( w/ #python ) all the images into a #timelapse of the #partialsolareclipse in #Aachen, #Germany.
I took over four thousand raw images, bulk edited in #RawTherapee and then scaled (HD+4K) and renamed them with #IrfanView.

While it was hard to see, if not impossible to see it with the naked eye, not that you should look straight into the sun, I took this shot using welding glasses:

There was a partial solar eclipse here in the UK today, here's a timelapse of the first 80 minutes, clouds unfortunatley spolt the rest.
