A gem. Moss Lake Natural Area. A high quality #peatbog in King Co. #pnw. So quiet. The sound of the rain was amazing. Want waders to use the Kyak launch. Sphagnum moss and #sundews along shore. I like #biking on first visits to explore the trails. Binocs and watching what comes by.

Such a #peatbog might be unspectacular at 1st glance, but at 2nd glance there is really a lot to discover! Thanks to complicated rehydration, the former forest has become a biodiversity hotspot - chickweed-wintergreen & cottongrass are only 2 examples from the restored moor.

Restoration of an ancient #PeatBog is about completed - it was almost destroyed during victorian times.
