I wondered what was eating my butterfly milkweed, and a little of the common milkweed as well....I was hoping it was Monarch butterfly larvae, but nope, it is a Red-legged grasshopper. First season of this garden to have them as visitors.

Got to visit mom's naturalized wildplont garden conversion over the weekend (3 years old, now). It's crazy how the same plant species grow in a different area with different soil. Our sweet joe pye weed and giant hyssop never get over 6 feet. Mom has 9-10 footers. 🤣 #plantnativeplants

We added seed for this primarily because it’s a host plant for Black Swallowtail butterflies. Now there are plants for relocating caterpillars found on Wild Parsnip and Queen Anne’s Lace while clearing exotic plants. 😊
