An early instar Puss Moth larva on an aspen leaf. This small caterpillar is largely black, but it has has red-brown markings highlighted in yellow on the sides of its head and at the beginning and end of its body. It has a pair of long thin tails, with orange bands towards the ends and red tips. On its head are two short thick projections, covered with tiny spiky bumps. It is a very strange looking creature.
