A winter view of a chamber tomb on a rocky headland
It wouldn't be #StandingStoneSunday & Dydd Gwyl Dewi Sant without a picture of the incredible chambered tomb of Coetan Arthur on St David's Head 🥰

I'm delighted to be lecturing at Oriel Môn/Anglesey Gallery in March about the incredible Iron Age remains on the island, including about recent work with @richardosgood.bsky.social at Llyn Cerrig Bach & our #RCAHMW recording of coastal forts.
See you there!

It's true 💯 - we're all only here for #HillfortsWednesday 🥳🛖
The remarkable Pentre Camp near Llanfair Caereinion in north Powys is highly concentric with 3 lines of defence: perhaps for prestige or to mark it as a special locale..? 🤔

Is it a monster? Or a badger with a hangover? Either way, this little creature was carved into stone at All Saints’ Church, Gresford. The church was mentioned in the Domesday book, but was almost wholly rebuilt in the 15th century

My thanks to @moleymole.bsky.social for posting new photos of the temporary measures on #Skomer to protect areas of path erosion around two of its most visited prehistoric monuments 👌
The platform at the Harold Stone was first noticed during our #RCAHMW Sept fieldwork & guided walks in 2024

A hand holding a piece of flint with various flake removals
#FindsFriday Prehistoric flint artefacts can be pretty scarce on Welsh Islands, but during #RCAHMW fieldwork last week on Skomer Island we collected this whopper of a blade core - one of the larger Neo/Bronze Age artefacts so far discovered - clearly made on good quality pebble flint 🥰😮
