A red milkweed beetle on a small leaf on a milkweed plant. It is in the middle of the leaf toward the top, looking up. It is surrounded by leaves that are three or four times larger and milkweed buds at the bottom. The beetle is red with two black spots on the thorax and six on the wings (three on each side), with the middle one being larger. The antennae are long, black, and curved outward. The legs are also black.

A red milkweed beetle is attached to a green milkweed leaf, while sunlight overhead shines down from somewhere above. The insect has a red body with black spots: its six legs are black, as are the two, long antennae, which are almost as long as the bug's body.
