Pedestrian struck, killed in front of N.J. mall Jeff Goldman Wed, April 1, 2026 at 1:48 PM EDT 1 min read A 22-year-old pedestrian from Asbury Park was struck and killed near the Monmouth Mall in Eatontown on Friday morning, officials said. The southbound car hit Edwin Chavez-Solis at the jughandle on Route 35 in front of the mall at 7:18 a.m., the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said. Chavez-Solis, who was walking from the east side of the road, died of his injuries at an area hospital at 7:40 a.m. His hometown was not immediately available.
