Saint John could soon make it easier to build #solar. Andrew Ahearn of SJE presented to #SJCouncil this week on zoning updates aimed at growing solar with strong neighbour protections.
Modern solar is quiet, safe, low impact. A smart move. More here: sj.energy/4718sGW #Zero30 #solarenergy
Logic wins! Thanks to #SJCouncil for pushing for this long-asked-for upgrade, and thanks to @nickcamsj.bsky.social for pointing out the logic.
Our #PeopleCity is disappearing piece by piece. When heavy industry and residents collide, we all lose.
Heavy industry: 9% of tax revenue
Residents: 63% of burden + all impacts
Buffer zones NOW to protect SJ neighbourhoods.

Ten years ago, Simms factory (est. 1866) was demolished for a parking lot. Now we're facing the same threat to Wolastoq Park. Once these community spaces convert to industrial use, as Bryan notes, "it's gone forever." bit.ly/434FbL0
We can't keep letting this happen. #peoplecity #sjcouncil
*important read*
"Last year, this council rejected a daycare on Starburst Lane off River Hill Drive due to traffic concerns"
#priorities #sjcouncil
Millions of people, zero pedestrian fatalities last year. You have to want safety like that to get safety like that. #peoplecity #sjcouncil
People first, #sjcouncil "Even staff have said that if this parking lot is approved, the park will no longer function as a park or a buffer between heavy industry and the adjacent residential community." #peoplecity
Yup. But before blaming the drivers, notice that the crosswalk happens right after a sharp curve in the road and is poorly marked for drivers to even be aware. How much blame do you put on the driver before you realize this intersection was not designed at all for the safety of people? #sjcouncil
Agreed. We need industry development AND community wellbeing—that's why we elect a council. Their mandate is to ensure growth enhances life for residents, not compromises it. Industrial proposals should lead with how they make life better for people here. #sjcouncil for a #peoplecity
Chores, meetings, ton of work, first batch holiday cookies, vote in #sjcouncil #byelection all done before 2:30. I've earned a nap before my next meeting. This is why #workfromhome is the best (and employers that force people into an office are making a mistake IMO)!
Monday, December 9, is an important day for Ward 3. Your vote will signal what matters most to our neighbourhoods—from safety and housing to building stronger connections. Let’s make sure your voice is heard at City Hall.

Had a blast today working with Chris putting up Bryan4SJ signs across Ward 3.
Thanks to my friend and neighbour Chris Stephenson, who cares about making Ward 3 better for the people here and spent the day putting up signs with me—thanks, Chris!
We had a blast! On the way, we found @RyanMooreSJ's sign damaged, so we fixed it. Happy Sunday! #Bryan4SJ #SJCouncil
