Goat willow is still🌟on my #Allotment!
Covered in honey 🐝 & here & there 100s of bumblebees & flies piled in to feed & as 🍃 are .. sap-sucking insects emerge too & a Chiffchaff was racing round filling its little self 💚

A Honey Bee collects pollen from the flower of a male goat willow. The flower has an 'explosion' of anthers all around its furry core. The bee is dusted with yellow pollen over its head, thorax, and legs, and its visible left hind leg has a sticky lump of collected pollen attached to it.

A twig of a goat (or pussy) willow tree, with a silver-grey male catkin and several orange-red leaf buds. The catkin has drops of water on it from a recent rain shower. The photograph was taken with flash, which has darkened the background so that the twig stands out strongly.
Goat willow. We always called it pussy willow when I was a child, because the grey catkins resemble a kitten's paws. I hope this little tree will be in bloom by the time the solitary bees emerge, because its flowers are a fantastic source of nectar and pollen.
