Cover of the Monuments of Mars. Shows the red surface of mars and a side view of the "face" of mars - but even on the cover it barely looks like a face. So, back in the 90s, the satellite channel I watched the most of was the Sci-Fi Channel - got me my Saturday Anime, my MST3K, and other shows. Aside from Dianetics, the other commercial that the channel bombarded viewers with was for a VHS copy of Hoagland's "The Monuments of Mars". In fact, the commercial is on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdpQ5JMV-wo Many, many years later I am at a Half Priced books (99% sure it was the one at the Tacoma Mall), and I came across a copy of the book city cheap and autographed (I don't recall it being in their rare/behind glass case section either). Sci-fi channel nostalgia took over and I plucked up the book. It's a big book too! almost 350 pages of what I am going to assume is made up gibberish (I've never read the thing).

I came to #tenchimuyo in a peculiar way. I didn't come to the franchise through the OVA or #toonami. I first saw Tenchi Masaki and his friends through the #scifichannel when it aired Tenchi Muyo! in Love circa 1996-1997. As such, I didn't get much backstory.
