Title: Pawn Rising Asleep, waking, meditative… pawns are everywhere active. Limited in their movements, limited in their abilities— expendable—yet, lethal as the powers of royalty they've sworn to defend. The scene is a low-key image of a stocky bedpost finial basking the sunlight. Sculpted in the shape of a squat urn, it resembles a lone chess piece on a chessboard blanketed in darkness. It’s framed to the left of the view with its base near the lower left corner. Sunlight defines the rounded form and ridges of the finial and the carved, squared edges of the bedpost beneath. The rest of the image is a background of black with nothing more to be seen beyond the final. The slight curved form of the bed's mattress is softly lit.
