A Cauldropod, which is an enemy I designed for my story Rudimental! She's posed with a finger to her pursed lips, looking towards the sun with a heart in her eye. The other eye is closed. She is pictured on an isolated island with palm trees crossing(not sponsored by In-n-Out!) that form a heart shape. A stray coconut can be seen in the sand, still in its green husk. There are bubbles in a gradient background that goes from yellow green, to blue, to purple, to pink, bottom to top respectively

Cauldrapods are fascinating Abominations that are home to an ecosystem inside their own body full of extremophile bacteria. Their relationship is mutualistic, with the bacteria protecting their exposed heart, providing them sustenance due to their lack of a stomach, and wieldable in the form of blown bubbles that can infect attackers. In exchange, the bacteria thrive in the Cauldropod's extremely hot body. Some may see it as a rather unfair trade. Nonetheless, their is even a system behind how the bacteria go about their lifespan, as they reproduce deeper within the metal shell of the cauldropod. It is a miracle how the bacteria around the heart toughen when the cauldropod is in danger, protecting it from stabbing attacks that would otherwise end the Abomination's life. Although they have no stomach, a Cauldropod's heart quickly distributes the sustenance they consume(which would be chemicals dispersed by hydrothermal vents) through processes that the bacteria facilitate. All the Cauldropod has to do is expose her heart to the exhaust of the vent. They have no predators when in the ocean; their body superheats the water around them, preventing any matter of potential danger from closing in in the first place. On land(Yup, they're amphibious!), their biggest threat is any Abomination that can attack from a distance, or anything that could shatter their shell. Easier said than done, Cauldropods are incredibly robust, and can heal quickly. That being said, they are quick about their business on land, which would be reproducing, given they understand they are far more vulnerable on land. Even a human could easily off one with proper tactics. The trick is to strike them in the heart before they can sense danger. You could end one with as little as a well-aimed rock and a hiding spot! If they find you, well then, surely you could outrun a snail, right? Just watch out for her hot, bacteria infested bubbles!
2nd of the Metal Series, a Cauldrapod! She's based on scaly foot gastropods, sea snails that live near hydrothermal vents and are quite literally metal in that there's iron in their shell. Also lightly based on cone snails, which are super venomous!
