Mangione is dressed in an orange jumpsuit and his hands are cuffed in front of him. He is flanked by at least 20 police in SWAT/riot/flak gear, with one LEO to Mangione’s right holding a massive assault rifle. The image is reminiscent of fictional antiheroes being marched to jail including The Joker (Batman). He looks badass, which considering this was clearly a planned photo op, may not have had the intended effect of diminishing his appeal to frustrated, working-class people. Notably, there is more security for one human CEO shooter than for… Superman. Man of Steel. An actual alien superhero who can FLY and melt things with his eyes and throw vehicles if he wanted. But the way these photos are composed is very similar. Iconic.
