D19: A drama that made you laugh

It's very difficult to make me laugh, at least throughout a whole drama. So instead of a drama I choose an actor who is really good in comedic roles: Seo In-guk.
He made me smile in #ShopaholicLouis and #CafeMinamdang

#ShopaholicLouis kdrama went a bit against the usual drama tropes: both main leads were interesting and atypical characters and nearly the only good people in the series.

That's why #kdrama like #MrSunshine and #ShopaholicLouis triangles worked well for me because those are still well developed characters with their own arc, background, and storyline outside of the main romance without losing their agencies. Not just a lazy accessory trope to create drama.

The best way to experience some of these series #kdrama imo.

I started #ShopaholicLouis completely blind with someone just saying "the ML is a giant marshmallow" and I enjoyed that quite a bit.

The Tiger Moth - Accoustic just hits different. Still as hard.

That was definitely on my list too. I actually chuckled when reading the summary on #Netflix and how similar the plot is with #ShopaholicLouis

The other drama I liked of hers is the fusion sageuk #100DaysMyPrince which - as one of the MDL reviews says - is a kind of Joseon version of #ShopaholicLouis, where she plays a villager who takes in an amnesiac crown prince (played by Doh Kyung-soo)

Not because it wasn’t worthy. But because it forgot how worthy it already was

I gotta admit though, #ShopaholicLouis weaponized their OSTs really really well, even for a romance #kdrama standard.

Monsta X - The Tiger Moth for example, was used in both romantic and tragedy situations and they somehow fit both of those scenes beautifully.

Dropped #ShopaholicLouis at episode 14/16 as I couldn't be bothered following the story anymore.

This drama ends at episode 10 for me.

Episode 11 onward was an alternate story fanfic bullshit that was written by 12 monkeys with typewriters. Filler anime beach episode garbage.

What a nosedive of a narrative suicide...scorched earth unearned plot twist. 🤬

The #kdrama gave me front-row seats to the fallout zone, no radiation suit, and said:

"Watch what happens when two soulmates realize love isn’t always enough when pain becomes part of the equation."

and that gutted me in a way I never prepared before.

And what’s truly diabolical is that the #ShopaholicLouis doesn’t even betray their characters to get there. It didn’t throw this relationship off a cliff.

It handed me the pieces, let me love how they fit, and then showed me that some pieces were forged from grief all along.

Louise's auntie who keeps accidentally and comically ruining the evil uncle plans to take over the company just because she's so kindness-coded is probably my new favourite character trope. 😂

This usually should bore me, but it somehow doesn't. #ShopaholicLouis didn't just give me romance, it gave me emotional security.

I've been trained by traditional romcoms #kdrama to seek:
“Who’s going to make this happen?”

But this is about:
“What if love just happens when you're busy being kind?”

#ShopaholicLouis waltzed in and say "No games. Just love. Let’s start there"

“Oh, I care about you deeply.”
“Cool, I care about you too.”
“Should we just…be good to each other until we figure the rest out?”
“Sounds like a plan.”

And somehow it works really well with this #kdrama.

Bok-sil now speaks in Seoulite dialects because she's working corporate but still sometimes comes across flowy with the hint of her old Gangwon-do dialect is probably one of the cutest character's growth I've seen in any #KDrama

Shoutout for actually including this subtle growth.

I just can't with these two. 0 mind games, 0 emotional manipulations, just two leads with the most emotional honesty and maturity I've seen in any romcom.

They are literally incapable of playing the game of love. It's so pure and I can't stop grinning.
