Series of medium sized, about 2 inches across, of nearly spherical mushrooms. When they’re mature they split open on top and the spores poof out. These are almost ready to split

This one has split open and the spore powder is inside

This one is very young and has no visible cracks developing until it outgrows its skin

This one will probably start to split tomorrow.

Last week we had colored Scizophyllum Commune, the Common Splitgill. Here’s a stack of white ones on the side of a tree. They are fuzzy.

I sat down on a bump on a tree and heard the singing behind me. Looked behind thr tree and found burgundy colored Maroon Madrone Tubaria. This is a single mushroom; cap, stem and gills all the same color. They grow on madrone trees. I haven’t found any since these in 2020 in Mendocino County

I have a #mimic for #SciArtSeptember Amanita Phalloides, the Death Cap. Mimics many species of edible agaricus. However if you look at it in natural sunlight it is green, not white. See attached post

Close up of fully mature diachea. They look like tiny 3-flavor ice pops. The heads are graded in color from pinkish orangeish at the top through pink to purple to blue. Photo 2 is similar but is a longer version of the same twig, with more tiny (2mm) fruiting bodies.

Genus Stereum. They resenble turkeytails but are not related. These are brown/tan ripples in thick moss.

Crepidotus or Oysterling depending on your language. They are tiny upside down white mushrooms with gills on top. Tye biggest one was about 1/8 inch.

Teeny orange bonnets. Can be one of many local species of mycena. Pen tip for scale.

I think this is schizophyllum commune but I have never seen one this color. Appears to be a green fan with a broad brown band dividing the base from the tips. Looks like chocolate and mint

My hand holding a fat white mushroom. The cap is inverted, the gills are on the outside. Tentative ID is Fragile Brittlegill in the genus Russula. They come in a variety of colors.

Very small pinkish mushrooms with white fuzz at the base of the stem, next to an even smaller one showing gills. The big one is smaller than my fingertip. Tentative ID: Laccaria laccata: the Deceiver. Also grow in a wide variety of colors, hence the name.

My fingers holding a stick with a yellow amorphous jelly fungus. Definitely genus Tremella, either Witches Butter or Golden Ear. This one’s about 4mm. They can get as big as my hand.
