Last year for the first time I made #sloe liqueur as a libation to my #ancestors and the #matrons. This year I was lucky to harvest enough so that there would be enough for the living too (and the plants were still hanging full). I also made jelly from the marc.

#samhain is not a day, it’s a period of time. It’s like a wave of energy. It begins quite a bit before 31st of October and lasts longer than the 1st of November. Today I’ll fill my #sloe liqueur, try my best to make jelly of the remains and then cook my most beloved #ancestor recipe!

It’s that time of year for collecting sloes for sloe gin. They look so plump and juicy this year I was very tempted to eat one but know from experience how astringent they are! The colour is beautiful though especially with the waxy bloom.
