✨ On Saint Thomas Becket’s feast day, we recall Servant of God Hermann Cohen, the friar who established the Teresian Carmel in England, “Mary’s Dowry.” In an 1864 lecture, he speaks about the mission's progress.

#StThomasBecket pray for us 🙏
Today, we remember Saint Thomas Becket who chose faith over favor. Once a friend of the king he died defending the Church at the altar. His martyrdom reminds us true discipleship means carrying the cross even when we stand alone. #jesus #catholicchurch #catholic #saintthomasbecket #stthomasbecket

There are lots of #medieval songs for St Thomas, but few from the #earlymodern period, as his cult was outlawed during the #Reformation.
Here is Clangat Tuba, an early #Tudor carol for today from the Ritson Manuscript (BL Add MS 5665)
