A couple of stones from the smaller more complete southwest circle at #StantonDrew. They stand about 6 feet tall. I am amazed at their individual characters and feel very peaceful around them, perhaps thanks to the rolling vistas all around #StandingStoneSunday. Mine, Spring 2024
Standing stoones, in the grounds of a parish church.
Gimme that old time religion.

These are epic, and the fogginess on the day when I visited added to the atmosphere ✨ #StantonDrew

I recently went for a post Christmas walk amongst the stones at Stanton Drew. If you need to relax, please check out this mindful listen by Owen Staton

All sunlit was the earth I trod,
The heavens were frankest blue;
But secret as the thoughts of God
The stones of Stanton Drew.

This charming Grade II listed toll house in #StantonDrew dates back to the 18th century. Its thatched roof, pointed arched windows with leaded lights, and a brick porch with a thatched bonnet give it a fairytale-like character.

So excited to be dancing at Stanton Drew stone circle on the winter solstice. Amazing poster designed by Kittiwake Morris.
This is definitely being printed for my wall.
Hope to see some of you there on the 21st December.
We will take some pics for #stoneclub

Megalithic Monday morning at #StantonDrew stone circle. A glorious place. After lunch at the Druids Arms a drive home listening to this as inspired by the stones davidcolohan.bandcamp.com/album/wf-46-... on the wonderful @woodfordhalse.bsky.social #stonecircles #megaliths

Legend has it that at Stanton Drew, a wedding party danced till midnight. When the fiddler refused to play on Sunday, the Devil took over. His music grew wilder, turning dancers to stone. #StantonDrew #PetrifiedDancers #Folklore #StoneCircle
I recently visited Stanton Drew Stone Circle: three circles crafted in the late Neolithic era, 4,500 years ago. Positioned by the river Chew's floodplain, geophysical surveys reveal timber posts and henge monument features. #StantonDrew #StoneCircle #Neolithic
Check out "The Cove": This prehistoric monument, formed by three stones, likely hosted rituals 4,500 years ago. Made of dolomitic conglomerate, likely from the Mendip Hills, it resembles structures at Avebury. Visit by walking past the Druid's Arms pub! #prehistoric #monuments #StantonDrew
