The Hedderwick plantation at #BelhavenBay #EastLothian was largely flattened by #StormArwen in November 2021. The restructuring continues today - creating a much more open landscape ahead of replanting at some point - hopefully with an appropriate #nativetree mix.

Finds from todays woodland blunderings (among the wreckage of #StormArwen 3 years on): Hypotrachyna laevigata (happiest on a felled larch); Graphis elegans; Coniocarpon cinnabarinum; Opposite Leaved Golden Saxifrage flowering already!

With villages where I live having power cuts for 2 weeks due to #StormArwen not surprising that supermarket shelves were cleared in anticipation of #StormBert
To be fair we just bought alcohol!

#StormArwen Northerners told not to be silly when they suggest this would be different if it were in the south. #stormmalik ditto. #StormEunice wall to wall tv and radio coverage, army on standby, COBRA called. Stay safe everyone.

Sadly, also found three dead adult Puffins along the Bay of Tafts, #Westray this afternoon - likely victims of recent #StormArwen and #StormBarra. #WestrayBirding

Grateful to have family close by with #StormARWEN having cut off electricity for 24 hours now. The power of communities was out in force today, moving trees and helping one another. #BeKind wherever you can 🙏💜

As #StormArwen rages greyly outside, I retreat to the technicolour of wonderful #coralreef fish met in Aqaba in Oct (posted weirder ones yesterday, inset): to start Two-banded (Red Sea) Anemonefish (Amphiprion bicinctus) common in Bubble & Sebae (Leather) anemones.

#StormArwen is kicking north Scotlands ass hard tonight. Power cuts, trees knocked over & rogue trampolines escaping their enclosures 😩

I kinda need #StormArwen to calm down a bit here tomorrow. I've started adding a second of "extra wall" on the hardest hit NNW side of my office.

The cold/wet didn't get in on the bit I'd started, but can't exactly work on it with the wind like this. https://t.co/FlTQjQaBN7
