A graphic of a press release with a white background featuring a headline in large, black type: “Streeterville neighbors praise MWRD Melas Centennial Fountain,” centered at the top. A black line runs along the top and left edges, meeting at the logo of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD), located at the upper left.

Below the headline, on the left, is a photo with a caption detailing the image that reads: “Streeterville Organization of Active Residents (SOAR) President Deborah Gershbein recognizes architect Dirk Lohan (from left), MWRD Chairman of Finance Marcelino Garcia and MWRD Director of Maintenance and Operations John Murray for the restoration of the Melas Centennial Fountain.”

Text from the press release reads: “A newly renovated community landmark representing the region’s prized water resources and the service of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) was recognized by its neighbors along the north bank of the Chicago River. The fountain is named after former MWRD President Nicholas J. Melas and was dedicated in 1989, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the MWRD’s establishment. In summer months, the fountain periodically sends an impressive 80-foot water arc across the river that can be seen from Lake Shore Drive and the surrounding skyscrapers.”
