With the #RedArmy closing in, #Nazis tried to evacuate 50,000 from #Stutthof #ConcentrationCamp, but were cut off and marched most back, but on #ThisDayInHistory in 1945, 3000 Jews were forced into the #BalticSea and shot dead. This was repeated in April, with another 4000 shot.
Her daughter Julia (1923), who was arrested in May 1944 and deported to #Stutthof in August 1944, survived. She submitted her mother's Yad Vashem Page of Testimony.
Julia's Stutthof registration card indicates that her father Jeno died in 1940.

According to the Yad Vashem Pages of Testimony submitted by his sister Anny, his sister Pola/Perla died from starvation in #Stutthof in 1945, while his sister Rosa perished in Warsaw (presumably the ghetto) in 1942. There is no record in the Yad Vashem online database for his wife Halina.

I visited #Stutthof Concentration Camp outside of #Gdansk in July 2000. The museum showing the camp's history explained that it opened immediately after N*zis invaded Poland in 1939. Civilians were quickly imprisoned. Up to 100,000 sent there. 60,000 died.
