The amount of times I've had to pause and rewind a scene while watching #SwordsintoPlowshares just so I can read the character's name, their offical court rank and/or military title, what country they're from, and their courtesy name has caused the remote's left button to start sticking.
After #SwordsintoPlowshares, I felt I needed a quality #cdrama which fits the festive season. Then I stumbled on #JoyofLife and devoured 6 episodes in 2 days!! So thrilled to find #LiQin and #XiaoZhan in the cast!! Very late to the party but I shouldn't have waited so long!

Finished #SwordsintoPlowshares! I'm glad I learned a lot about the 5Dynasties10Kingdoms era, both from this intricate history-based series and my related research. #BaiYu shines brilliantly as the shrewd but compassionate Qian Hongchu, as does #ZhuYawen as iron-willed Zhao Kuangyin!
Many historical dramas don’t involve ‘idol’ actors much at all - eg, the currently airing #SwordsIntoPlowshares (where aside from the FL, the leads are average looking)
There are historical dramas involving ‘idol’ actors that are very well acted, & others that feel more cheaply made for consumption

#SwordsintoPlowshares is dark and angsty but every bit reflects real history and the intricate plot worth the extra effort. The lessons are relevant to the present times. Those who lust for power and use it for control are most likely not fit to be rulers.
I’m currently enjoying the very non idol, high craft drama #SwordsintoPlowshares, & Bai Yu (the ML) is excellent in this role -
but he would be completely the wrong fit for #YouAreMyGlory or #TheKingsAvatar - despite having more craft as an actor
YY isn’t stealing anyone’s roles 🤷♂️
I’m watching & enjoying both of those too - but #SwordsIntoPlowshares is the most immersive of the three
Even though it’s a more political story, it’s got a #Minglan like quality - in that the action takes place seamlessly & naturally as a flow of human events
It has light touches too 🙂
It’s not for everyone, but I’ve been thoroughly enjoying #SwordsintoPlowshares 🙂
There was a lull after the battle deciding the fate of the Central Plains; but once the story switched back to Wuyue - focussing on Qian Hongchu making his way in the world - it became totally immersive for me
