A-81 is the size of Greater London (~1500 km²) and is located in the Weddell Sea, #Antarctica 🇦🇶. The development was monitored over several years using radar satellites 🛰️ such as the German #TerraSARX & #Sentinel-1A.

🛰️🏔️ Using #TerraSARX data, it is possible to monitor the tectonic movements & changes of the salt glaciers in the Zagros Mountains, Iran (left). The satellite also provides information on the surface structure & the dynamics of the ice of #Antarctic glaciers (right).
