This is another film that makes me regret that I didn't buy more Twilight Time releases. I'm glad TCM aired it.

"You take failure too hard. I don't mind it so much anymore"

#TheHotRock (1972, Peter Yates) was SO MUCH FUN! I love seeing Robert Redford in more comedic roles. This unconventional heist film is worth a watch if you've never seen it. It keeps you guessing. Afghanistan Banana Stand. #TCMParty

The ending sequence of #TheHotRock brought tears to my eyes. Robert Redford, you were one of a kind.

I know there are worse things in the world to be upset about right now, but my copy of #TheHotRock has disappeared from my house. And I’m a little pissed.

Poster for the heist film 'The Hot Rock' (1972). Based on the novel of the same name by Donald E. Westlake. Directed by Peter Yates. Starring Robert Redford, George Segal, Ron Leibman, Paul Sand, Moses Gunn and Zero Mostel.

On the poster an image of four men standing in a New York street corner in front of a lamp post with a crosswalk traffic signal. From left to right: black haired man (Paul Sand as Allan Greenberg) wearing a white shirt, a tie and jeans, a black haired man (Ron Leibman as Stan Murch) wearing a cream colored jacket, a yellow shirt with black stripes and black trousers, a fair haired man (Robert Redford as John Dortmunder) wearing a grey suit and a pinkish shirt and a brown haired man (George Segal as Andy Kelp) wearing a blue shirt and jeans. Covering the bottom half of the photo is the tagline 'Robert Redford, George Segal & Co. bomb the museum, blow the jail, blitz the police station, break the bank and heist "The Hot Rock"........almost'.

💎 There are certainly plenty of better capers out there. Even with Robert Redford (Sneakers, The Sting). But IF you happen to be fan of the genre I'm sure you can still get a kick out of #TheHotRock. Even if heist-wise it's more quantity over quality. 📽️🎞️

#TheHotRock @tcmtv.bsky.social Good heist flick. Shocked it has not been remade. Bill Goldman adapting Westlake. How could it not be good? It is.

Watching #TheHotRock is giving me weird 70's NYC nostalgia. Weird because it's a much cleaner city shown here than I remember. Also that shot of the WTC under construction was almost flashback-inducing. #TCMDVRParty #TCMParty
