Yes!
Sam does have an unusual ability, but I won't mention it due to spoilers. I did mention it on here before, but realized it was revealing too much, so deleted it.
It's do to with the fact that she's half-sylvan, an elf-like race with a deep connection to nature.

If Drohim lost his trust in the Many's clergy, he'd still believe in the Many's goodness. Even if he decided the Many sucks, he would resolve to do good on his own.
Seff, and the other hand, might decide that doing good requires violence, and go deep.

Yorica? I think if her sister were tortured that would do it.
If Lucifer was destroyed, Virgil would.
Lucifer is not a proud person. Virgil is. Pride is all that keeps the darkness at bay.
He'd be The Devil they thought Lucifer.
In all the universe, the only light that would remain would be the ghost light of dead stars.

😆🤣😂😆Oh, um, ahem. I mean...
Alstair is truly morally grey. He cares about his estate & his town & his people, but he burrows in, trading broader concern for his own peace. He doesn't -want- to care about society at large. In his opinion, they could uproot & move if it's that bad

What "dark side"?
What if they already are on the "dark side"?
Some of my heroes are more likely to use dark than light, & have long since turned their backs on rule & order.
Okay, to actually try to answer a question I don't understands. It depends on which- 1/?

Just because of the themes and dynamics I like to explore, it almost universally boils down to 'loss of loved ones.' If they people they love die, especially if it's not natural death, they will likely explode and take the world down with them.
What would it take to turn your heroes to the dark side?
