And of course there had to be a top 10 of the fleet I have used the most. It won't come as much of a surprise to see the Class 43 HST power cars racing away with it, a clear 5000 miles ahead of the ever reliable 350 EMU. The Class 40 makes up the top 3

Time to finish off my 2024 Review on the rails with a look back at my top 10s, starting with the highest mileage traction for the year which went to D213 as the Whistlers quickly became a newfound love after some epic journeys behind them in 2024!

A trailer so good, it’s directly on-par with the already PHENOMENAL movie itself, to the point where I’m not entirely sure which is better! This trailer takes a more Wall-E approach, and the choice of cover for “It’s A Wonderful World” was also fantastic! For a movie trailer, it feels like it tells a story of it’s own artistic merit, not just as at trailer, but as a piece of media in its own right. The story it tells is a non-spoiler-y version of The Wild Robot movie itself minus where the robot came from, but in that sense, it’s like the first half of Wall-E even more-so than just the silence, and leaves you with questions, like “where did the robot come from?” Which gets answered in the actual movie. Not much else to say, but this is easily one of my favorite movie trailers in a long time, maybe even ever!

My favorite YouTube music video of 2024! Aside from the song, what really puts this episode on the list is the editing. I can’t even begin to imagine how much time went into not only the song itself, but just composing all of these clips in the editing process, it’s genuinely beyond impressive! Not much to say, but this is easily my favorite YouTube music video of 2024, and also my favorite edited YouTube video of 2024!

The whole horror-theme here is great, down to the for-shadowing that it would be horror-themed based on the 3 scary movies Miles’ dad wanted to watch with him. The visuals aren’t really that different from Across The Spider-Verse, but given how flawless that style is, naturally, The Spider Within using that same style is going to look fantastic! The sound design is also amazing (& legitimately creepy at times). Love the ending song too!

Aside from, again, being tied against Digital Circus episode 3 for my favorite lit YouTube video of 2024, the actual story told here is fantastic! Complete with incredible sound design & voice performances from Lisa Remold, ProZD, Jason Marnocha, and basically the entire cast, every voice performance works wonders! I love the design of child Ivy, and her relationship with Victor was quite sweet. The soothing piano theme song of this episode is amazing to listen to as well, love it! This mini-episode is meant to be the beginning of season one, and it’s an amazing omen for what’s to come, so excited for the full episode one!

I loved the first 2 episodes of Digital Circus, but this is the show’s best episode yet by a long shot! It’s the funniest episode of the show yet. The emotional moments work super well, I love the voice-acting, and it’s the best-looking episode of the show yet! MAYBE my favorite lighting of any YouTube video of 2024 (it’s tied with Lackadaisy Ingenue)! Jax being tied up in the C-plot was hilarious, and so was the B-plot’s resolution, going from Caine giving Zooble a speech throughout the episodes to then switching roles, I love it! It can also be quite creepy, even if further horror-entrees on this list are definitely scarier.

This Skill Up review, as random of an entree for this list as it seems, is in here due to it being so inspirational to me as a reviewer. It’s the kind of review I want to keep making myself, due to how fantastically in-depth it is without being nitpick-y, and there’s a good reason why I shouted it out in my own Animal Well review, because I took some inspiration from it! Not much else to add, go watch it, one of my favorite YouTube videos of 2024, and also the most personally inspiring!
