Researchers uncover 48-dimensional topological structures in entangled light Scientists from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and Huzhou University in China have made a major breakthrough in quantum optics by uncovering hidden topological structures within entangled light. Using a well-known process called spontaneous parametric downconversion (SPDC), they discovered that entangled photons naturally form complex spatial topologies reaching up to 48 dimensions.
