👩🏫 📄 Last week, I participated in the UACES Conference at Liverpool. It was a great opportunity to present my work on the use of fear by British Prime Ministers in their discourse on Brexit and receive feedback from researchers and doctoral students from various countries.

Our virtual format brought together researchers across time zones who couldn't make it to Liverpool. Huge thanks to all chairs and presenters who sparked vital debates about Europe's evolving role in our complex world.

Just back from #UACES2025 in Liverpool🇬🇧 — great time with some of the best experts in European studies! I presented findings from our upcoming Palgrave book on 🇭🇺 Hungary’s EU path: how EU funds are spent, impact on regions&firms, policy reforms, and what Hungarians think after 21 years in the EU.
Back home after five days in the UK, including 3 days of conferencing. Great presentations, very interesting colleagues, fun conversations. This is a fantastic way to start the academic year! Thanks to everyone at #UACES2025 ! @uaces.bsky.social
Lovely to have spent the week in Liverpool for #UACES2025. Great to catch up with colleagues and friends, and to learn what’s going in European Studies. Thanks to the amazing @uaces.bsky.social team for organising.
On the train home from #UACES2025. Thank you to everyone who participated in the European Security track - hopefully see you at other @seceur-uaces.bsky.social events. Loved returning 'home' to Liverpool too!
On the 🚄 from Liverpool back to London, onwards to Maastricht. Another great @uaces.bsky.social Conference 🙏🏼local organisers, UACES office! Loved Liverpool - have to come back. To all the cycling aficionados, @simonusherwood.bsky.social and I will be back with a whole peloton next time #UACES2025 🇪🇺🚴🏽♀️

We hope you had a fantastic time exchanging ideas, sharing research, and connecting with colleagues. Safe travels and we hope to see you next year at Charles University in Prague.
Our final panel at #UACES2025 considered the balance between health and other EU policies - ethics, trade, alcohol brand marketing, and AI.
Many thanks to Juan Collado Perez Llantada, @merikoivusalo.bsky.social, Jaydon Souter, and Phil Ryan!
Day 2 #UACES2025 saw our 3rd panel on data exclusivity vouchers, global health, wellness devices, and solidarity in European healthcare!
Many thanks to Paula Dornbusch, Ian Manners, Federica Casarosa and Mary Guy
Keep on protesting is a key message emerging from Plenary 3 on the final day of UACES 2025. Knitting is sometimes a means of protest - but not in this instance.
Really interesting, if downbeat disussions in the current state of affairs. #uaces2025
It’s time for the third and final plenary session of #UACES2025. ‘Navigating Transatlantic Turbulence: Europe’s Role in a Shifting Global Order’ is starting at 11:00 in the Redmonds Building.
What an enthralling discussion to end with!
We can’t quite believe it’s already the final day of UACES 2025!
We still have plenty to squeeze in today. Sessions kick off at 09:00 and will run until 15:00.

Great #UACES2025 panel discussing the roles of the EU and NATO in the current debate on foreign interference in Europe. How malevolent actors using old and new technologies seek to subvert European values and institutions. What responses are possible and necessary?
Always fun to present on something not about EU-UK relations, especially when it also let's me justify all that time on cycling websites!
