A5:
I plan to keep studying and engaging my students and myself. @angiecthomas recently said that if today's leaders read more books about black children then the world wouldn't be in the shape it is today and I agree. Curating opportunities for empathy #WFISDchat

A4
We read about people of different racial backgrounds in our fiction, in current events, in our informational texts, all the time. Even when we read canonical texts, we interrogate what people of other races were doing at the time to get a fuller perspective. #WFISDChat
Q4
#WFISDChat
How do you talk about race with students?
A 3.1
Also, being black doesn't mean I understand what other marginalized groups go through, or that my perspective on blackness is monolithic. I have to engage with many different perspectives to be well-rounded and empathetic. #WFISDchat
A3:
As a T, I have to check myself and have friends check me OFTEN. Being black does not mean that I don't perpetuate racism. Our system is racist, and I have to question everything I do and how it impacts my students. I interrogate everything I've "always done." #WFISDchat
Q3
#WFISDchat
How do you/can you engage in the self-awareness necessary to practice anti-racism?
A2.1

Here's the link for us to buy and compensate @nenagerman for her work! It's truly amazing. #WFISDchat
A2:
@nenagerman has a WONDERFUL Anti Racist Teacher Workbook that helped shift my perspective on how my instruction was perpetuating white supremacy. Exploring counter narratives and "single stories" and our responsibilities as readers happens daily #WFISDchat
Q2
#WFISDChat
What does anti-racism look like in your classroom/school building?
A1:
Educators must realize that many of our Ss face trauma that is a direct result of racist norms and ideologies. These play out in our classrooms, so we must practice anti racism and promote anti racism and equity for our Ss to survive and thrive. #WFISDchat
Q1
#WFISDchat
What obligation do educators have to practice and promote anti-racism in schools?
Hi #WFISDchat
I'm Chanea Bond, your moderator this evening. I teach secondary literacy in #FWISD I'm excited to catch up on all the books I haven't read over the last two months!
Welcome to #WFISDchat
Please introduce yourself!
Hey #WFISDChat folx. Here is a sneak peek at our chat for tonight co-hosted by @BrittanySralla I hope we can get some #DisruptTexts #WOCedchat and #cleartheair folx on to help us through these discussions!
Hi #Wocedchat #cleartheair and #disrupttexts communities, please join my friends and I at #WFISDchat for a discussion about anti-racist classrooms tonight at 8 CST! Looking forward to hearing from you all!
A4: taking lots of vitamins and drinking so much water so I don’t get the flu everyone else in my house has #WFISDChat
A2: “We’re more than one test on one day.” Also #WFISDchat
A1: I’m drowning. My test is in 5 weeks, spring field trips means my students are gone ALL THE TIME, there’s never enough time for anything, and I’m just really exhausted. #WFISDchat
Chanea Bond running a little late, which is basically my MO! My signature dish is ordering in. I haven’t really mastered anything yet! #WFISDchat
A1: Love Michael’s! Now that I allow my Ss to express themselves in different ways, it’s cool to have art supplies and cute things on hand for cheap! #wfisdchat
Hi friends! Chanea here! Secondary literacy in FWISD. Dancing with my toddler to music in the shoe store made me smile today! #wfisdchat
A5: keeping up with my Site. I’m SO BAD AT IT! #WFISDchat
A4: Annotations. There’s something about seeing your own markings on a piece of literature that makes it authentically yours. #WFISDchat
A2: MY CHOICE BOARD IN DRAWINGS! Behold the beauty, friends! #WFISDchat
A1: This is TOUGH! I pick slides IN THIS MOMENT because of the versatility and the ability for the app to literally be ANYTHING I need it to be! My answer was drawings when I read the Qs earlier 😫😫😫#WFISDchat
Hi friends! Gonna slow chat this one because my child is 2 and my life isn’t my own and I hope you will be patient with me. Chanea Bond. Literacy teacher with Fort Worth ISD. Favorite season is fall bc the weather and it kicks off all the food stuff! #WFISDchat
A5: being more intentional with my class time and more data informed. Now that I know my students, I want them to create meaningful work out of their understanding and shine. I also plan to be more relaxed. My BP skyrocketed this semester and I need to chill. #WFISDchat
A4: positive phone calls! My principal asks that we make one a day and they make all the difference. When I’m starting to lose it, I call a parent of a Ss who has improved/shown growth and it’s like “oh yeah! I have a whole team of people working with me.” #WFISDchat
A3: I’m going to do nothing. And then I’m going to plan “shared readings” with my department (I LOVE YOU @MrsRasmussen10!) for consistency and then we’re going to pinpoint skills in the next unit we want students to master #WFISDchat
