This kingfished I photographed at the Waterwingebied, which is the park next to my apartment building. This male just came out of a tunnel in a clay mound on the corner of a pond. A week later I would even spot and photograph this one and its mate together, but since I only had 4 photos to go with this post, I picked this one. Canon R10, RF 100-400 29-03-2025
So far the best and most detailed shot I've managed to take of a perching kingfisher. This was taken from a birding hide, so I did have some advantages over all my previous encounters, however I know that my skills have improved a lot that even with the same camera and lens I've already had for over a year I wouldn't have been able to take it this sharp.
