A black swan swimming in one of the small ponds at Chartwell, the former home of wartime leader Winston Churchill and his wife Clementine. The waters of the pond ripple where the swan has been swimming and reflect both the green shrubs that surround the area and the blue sky above. The swan’s graceful neck is also caught in reflection. In the foreground grey pavings form the edges of the pond, which also contains many small goldfish. The house and gardens are now run by the English National Trust charity and are open to the public. Black swans (Cygnus atratus) are waterbirds, breeding mainly in the southeast and southwest regions of Australia. They are large birds with black plumage and a red bill.
#AlphabetChallenge #WeekKforKaraoke and
belated nod to last week’s #WeekJforJetBlack with this stunning black swan we saw during our visit to Chartwell this week. I’m not saying this one was white originally but my song is … Paint It Black by the Rolling Stones.
