Oh my, what a find! 1m long sunfish! I spotted it as I was guiding a dolphin watching trip this afternoon. My best ever sighting of one! What a thrill!

Some photos from the last couple of days, including a seal pup less than a day old (possibly just a few hours), a shy seal (if I can't see you then you can't see me), a joyous dolphins and an oystercatcher (never known to catch oysters! Total misnomer).

I had a gannet flying around the boat as we watched some dolphins yesterday. The bright sunshine and clear sky gave me an almost x-ray vision of it as it flew directly overhead!

🌳 You’ll start to see this bracket fungus growing out of the trunks of trees from May until the autumn.
🪶 Its nickname is ‘pheasants back' because the pattern and colour of the fungus’s surface resemble the feather pattern of a pheasant.

🩵 I found a pair of blue tits feeding chicks in a woodland nest box this morning.
🪺 Last year I had a pair nest in my garden. The chicks fledged but a predator kept trying to rip the nest box lid open in the night.
