It's that time of year.. the Autumn Crocuses (Croci??) (Colchicum autumnale) are in bloom. A great splash of colour on the forest floor. Beautiful but don't add it to your salad. Every part of the plant is deadly poisonous 😬 #WildHungary #wildflowers #WildflowerPower

There is only one patch of Sacred Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) I have ever found in Hungary. When they are in full bloom like today, it is a spectacular sight. Huge flowers and thick round leaves twice the size of a dinner plate. πŸ˜€ #WildHungary #Wildflowers #WildflowerPower #Lotus #SacredLotus

Late summer in Hungary means Chicory (Chicorium intybus) is blooming EVERYWHERE! πŸ˜€ One of the commoner roadside weeds. This plant is one of the main commercial sources of inulin, a fructose polymer used in the pharmaceutical and supplement industries. #WildHungary #wildflowers #WildflowerPower

As I mowed the lawn, I made circles around the wildflowers growing there. A day later, I see that the neighbours have done the same for the stray wildflowers that popped up in their lawn. #spreadthewildflowerlove #wildflowerpower
