I've been struggling with today's #BirdOfTheDay theme #PerfectLighting. What is the perfect light? Bright and strong. Illuminating every detail. Or is it some nature of light that makes the photograph 'special' somehow?
Here are both...

A pair of Brown-cheeked Hornbills sitting on a tree branch in bright sunshine against a deep blue sky.
The male has a large yellow, down-curving beak topped by a casque, a hollow structure attached to the upper mandible. The head, upper parts and underparts are black apart from the reddish-brown cheeks, and the white rump, belly and tail. The female is smaller but otherwise similar to the male apart from having a black beak and casque.

These birds are vital for the spread of large forest seeds that smaller birds cannot. They also also catch insects and nest high in mature trees, over 20 meters above the forest floor.

Widespread logging, for timber and agriculture, has deprived these bird of the habitat they need to for fruit and nesting locations.
