A female Yellow-shafted Northern Flicker (a type of woodpecker) perched high up in a tree in the early morning sunlight. Her bright yellow underwings and tail feathers are hidden, but you can see her gray crown with a red crescent on the back of her head, and a beige/tan face. Her chest is beige with black spots and a black crescent bib. She was in a tree with brown branches that had patches of green lichen, and there was a bright blue sky in the background. This photo was taken at 2000mm with a Nikon Coolpix P950 superzoom camera. Seen at Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary in Norfolk, Massachusetts.
