A river (sizable for Britain - elsewhere this might be called a stream) winds its way over rocks in a steep wooded valley or gorge. Many years ago this valley was a hive of copper mining activity with the river providing power for water wheels to not only crush the ore but also pump the mine of water. Most of the tree cover would have grown since the abandonment of the mine.

A lush woodland of deep greens and woody browns. Mossy vines cover most of the trees. Beyond the foreground a swampy lake has formed. Many others have obviously been here before me as you can see a small path of trampled grass in front of the lake.

Similar to yesterday I ventured away from the main hiking trail into the woods and found this lush, primordial looking spot with a swampy lake and vine laden trees.
