Young African FC eyes CAF glory Erasmus Shalihaxwe Young African Football Club says it is determined to make Namibia proud in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederations Cup when they face Royal Leopards Football Club from Eswatini. Club chairman and head coach Mali Ngarizemo said, as the only Namibian club in the competition, they are committed to representing both the club and the nation. “The entire club is buzzing with excitement as we prepare for this historic encounter. We understand the magnitude of the challenge, but we are fully committed to giving our absolute best on the continental stage. Our journey in the Debmarine Namibia Premiership and the MTC NFA Cup this past season has shown our resilience and ambition, and we aim to carry that same fighting spirit into the CAF Confederations Cup and the 2025/2026 league season,” said Ngarizemo. He said Royal Leopards remains a relatively unknown team, but he will prepare thoroughly. “Their presence in this competition is proof enough that they are a capable side, and a quick look at their social platforms shows a well-organised and ambitious club. We respect their achievements and will not underestimate them. Our preparations will be intense, focused, and strategic to ensure we overcome the challenge they present. The competition demands nothing but the best, and we are ready to put in the work to make sure we advance,” he said. Ngarizemo called on fans to support the team. “Our supporters have always been our driving force in domestic competitions, and they are now needed more than ever. Whether at home or away, their cheers, passion, and belief in the team will be vital,” he said. On the venue for the home match, Ngarizemo said CAF did not approve local stadiums to host the game. “An official announcement will be made soon regarding the venue and country for our home fixture against Royal Leopards FC. The club is working diligently to secure a suitable alternative, and we appreciate the patience and understanding of our supporters as we finalise these arrangements,” he said.
