West of west tower #StLukeBrislington Bristol for #AdoorableThursday

Is this crocketed #Ogee with finial and flanking pinnacles earlier, later or contemporaneous with the south porch? The Listing says C19. Mouse jury still out. Nice contrast between pennant and bath stone though

The curious porch of #StLukeBrislington Bristol. Made of ashlar it is in total contrast to the pennant rubble of the rest of the church. It's suggested, because of the #Ogee, that it predates the C15 nave and tower. Looks English Renaissance to Mouse though. #AdoorableThursday

A pencil drawing of a medieval undercroft with row of timber posts supporting a number of large beams to span the large space. In the background a wide arched opening in the wall is partly filled with an open timber framed screen giving access to a chapel.

The screen of the chapel at Merchant Adventurers Hall, York, an offering for #ADoorableThursday. Well, it has a doorway in it. The impressive ceiling dates from 1357 (I think).

A heavy iron door is shown in an iron frame. The hinges on the left, the large rectangular lock fitting and two bolts top and bottom are all heavy duty. The door has a heavy grill in the top third with bars across and 16 small square holes. Above the door is another grill with 3 rows of 6 holes.
The door, frame and panel above all have many rivets/studs for strength.
The door is shown at the Museum of London before it closed in 2023. Newgate Prison was near the Fleet River and the Old Bailey on the west side of the City of London.
Will it be displayed when the new London Museum opens in Smithfield in 2026?

Behind the Green Door, 1972 (don't judge me, it's a classic).

A colour photograph of the front of a terraced house, opening straight onto a street. The brick as been stripped or a render, apparently in preparation for re-covering; it has revealed lots of details, as described in the main post.

This sundry #StHelens house might not look much, but the details tell stories spanning several lifetimes: original detail on the lintels; Second World War hydrant #GhostSign, later rendered over; main window reduced in size; and preparation for re-rendering.

An old wooden double door to a yellow plastered house. In the wall next to it, parts of what looks like a gothic style stone arch have been left visible, suggesting that the house is (at least in part) much older than it looks and that the layout and probably also function of the building has changed over the centuries. I took the photo in the medieval Old Town in Tallinn, Estonia, so anything is possible.

Sorry guys, I have zero interest in watching billionaires launch their d*ck extensions into space for no valid reason. Not even publicly funded ones.

This however is cool. A door with traces of an older gate or door next to it. What did it look like 300 years ago?

The church door at Lowick in Northamptonshire (I posted pictures of its remarkable tower last week). A wooden porch roof, light coloured stone with a shallow arch, and a dark brown wooden door with two dark brown hinges - look carefully, though, and the ends of the hinges are intricately decorated with lots of points.
