A common garter snakes, coiled artistically over a mound of dried marsh reeds. This one is rather small but there is a larger one just to the right.

And there were garter snakes in the marsh! I saw a number coiled up in the grass waiting for the day to warm them up. This was a particularly cute little noodle.

The European tree frog (Hyla arborea) is known for its characteristic nocturnal call and the dark lateral stripe accentuating its eyes. Arboreal, it inhabits environments rich in vegetation and prefers the outskirts of marshes and ponds. As a protected species, it is strictly forbidden to handle or trade this little frog. 💎 Aragonite is the dimorph (a mineral with the same chemical composition) of calcite. Extremely rare, it is found only in small quantities due to its purity. Transparent to translucent, sometimes with a pearly sheen, it is generally white but can display a range of hues from pale yellow to bluish-green. It is considered an ornamental stone. In France, it can be found in the Gard and in the Aude, at the heart of the Salsigne Mine. 🇫🇷 La rainette verte (Hyla arborea) se distingue par son chant nocturne caractéristique et une bande latérale sombre soulignant ses yeux. Arboricole, elle fréquente les biotopes riches en végétation et apprécie les bordures de marais ou d'étangs. Behind Reptar is string of sticks held together with a metal rod thay bends to form a ramp that butts againsts a woven hanging mat for perching. Question fir those that might know: why's this one so dark in color? We updated lighting about a week ago. We're molting. We've been this color since moving to a less active space. Temp/humidity 90/30 on the one side 80/40 on the other side. Diet: wax worms and organic washed romaine. #addHerper
