Chelenzo Farms near Santa Fe, NM cultivates #agaves, which have many benefits. Agaves have long supported a variety of #pollinators in the #Southwest, including the Mexican long-nosed bat, hawkmoths, hummingbirds, bees, wasps, and other insects.

Largest of all #Agaves, Agave atrovirens. Each leaf can grow just shy of 15ft long and weigh ~100lbs. The flower stalk, its peduncle, towers over 40ft tall.
This one’s #justababy.
Endemic to Oaxaca, Puebla, and Veracruz, Mexico. It’s one of the pulque agaves used in mezcal production.
