I know there’s a lot of horribleness right now. But last night I attended the premiere of a new documentary about two brothers who walked across Arizona before the #ArizonaTrail existed. Water sources on the #ArizonaTrail are often a gross mess of silt and algae, usually shared with cattle and wildlife. It was a huge relief on Day 12 of my thru-hike to find water that was clear and tasted good.

Day 10 of my #ArizonaTrail thru-hike turned out much better than Day 9. I didn’t feel nearly as tired, my pack ably handled the weight of five liters of water, and I even got a little education on what goes into a prescribed burn.

Last week while in #Arizona, I went #hiking near Flagstaff on an #ArizonaTrail section around Mormon Lake. I've been doing segments of this N-S cross-state trail over the years as day hikes. At the end of this segment, I encountered a ferocious #sunset.

A brown trail heads straight through the middle of the photo, surrounded on either side by a strip of grass and other small plants and then at the edges, young aspens with white trunks and green leaves. The sky is dark blue with a few wispy clouds. In the middle at the end of the trail are two tall pine trees. This is the Arizona trail at Murray Lake in Northern Arizona.
My husband and I and our two co-hikers finished the last 67 miles of the Arizona Trail the first week of June. It feels good to be done but now we need a new adventure!
