This 2012 was just singing. I can sometimes excuse a little oxidation for development and complexity, but there was none at age 13. Fresh and focused, this evolved well and held perfectly. Ripe, but textured and showing fine depth, it's super.

The balance is good, there's that relative restraint in this "big wine category," and the fruit absorbs the wood, mostly fending off the alcohol.
"Reserve" here means fermented in wood, then aged 9 months, not just three. 14.5% alc, a good value around $30.

Great stuff, kinda brilliant now. From Northern Greece, this Areti brand is one of my favorite Assyrtikos off of Santorini (Biblia Chora also makes a red Areti). Ripe but crisp, with a good backbone of acidity, it has some tension on the finish.

Pick something a little richer to hold up to it. It is not your normal Assyrtiko. It has aged beautifully, though, with lots of life left. 15%, but handles it well. About $70-ish.

2/2 Fresh,concentrated and ripe, it's gorgeous. Obviously oaked, but handles the wood extremely well. A perfect pairing for many dishes (try white clam sauce). From this bottle, good years of life left.Not a surprise for grape or winery. 14%, $60 for new years.

With some age, it's gone fully dark in color, but it also isn't decayed, just concentrated and caramelized. Absolutely delicious. Six years in barrel before release. Around $40 then for a 500ml. Just 11% alc. A bonus!
