Barra of Mendocino Reserve Chardonnay 2024, Mendocino, California LUNCH WINE Dark gold in color. Nice nose of apples, oak, light vanilla, spices, toast, herbs and light earth notes. Medium plus in body with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with citrus, apples, oak, herbs, light vanilla, light earth and light spices. Tangy finish with apples and limes. This interesting Chardonnay from California is drinking very nicely right out of the bottle. Nicely balanced and complex, with a nice mouthfeel. Spicy, lighty creamy and entertaining. Would be nice to revisit this Single Vineyard Chardonnay in a couple of years, and see how it evolves. I've had a few vintages of this Chardonnay and this one is showing much better than the others. Elegant and easy drinking. Good by itself as a sipping wine, or with food. I paired it with Chicken Fajita. 100% Chardonnay grapes where hand picked and aged for 9 months on the lees in (25% new) French oak barrels. 14% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $24.

Rich and elegant. Creamy and buttery. Complex and entertaining. Nicely balanced with lots of fruits to balance the earth notes. Good right out of the bottle, and good by itself or with food. Paired beautifully with my Ahi Tuna tacos. A blend of 60% Albillo with Macabeo, Moscatel and Chelva. Aged on the lees for 6 months, in stainless steel vats and large French oak barrels. 14% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $30.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity. Crisp and refreshing. Dry on the palate with green apples, light grapefruits, limes, earth, sea salt, bitter herbs and spices. Tangy finish with limes and herbs. This is an interesting Sauvignon Blanc from Napa Valley. Nicely balanced with nice complexity. Fresh and easy drinking. Earthy nose and a bit fruitier on the palate. Feels more like one from the Loire Valley. Much earthier and than the 2024 vintage that I had last year, which I loved. Feels like it needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Would be nice to revisit it in a couple of years. Good right out of the bottle and a good food wine. 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes were hand picked and fermented in stainless steel vats. 14.1% alcohol by volume. 90 points. $25.

This 8 year old Riesling from Anderson Valley is drinking beautifully now. Rich and elegant. Complex, interesting and entertaining. Changes in the glass every 15 minutes, which is so entertaining. Good right out of the bottle, and better after 20 minutes of airtime, when the complexity shows up. Wine Enthusiasts 90 points. This Single Vineyard Riesling is still rich with fruits. Nicely balanced and spicy with a nice mouthfeel. Better when not too cold. Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food. A field blend of 92% Riesling and 8% Muscat.
