Calla Lily Estate Audax Valor 2023, Napa Valley, California

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Earthy nose with red and black fruits, light wood, coffee, earth, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf, herbs, peppercorn and spices.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with cherries, plums, raspberries, light oak, spices, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf, herbs, earth, light vegetables and green tea.

Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and raspberries.

This Cabernet Franc based blend from Napa Valley is already drinking nicely, even by itself.

Still young, and needs more bottle time to mature properly. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 to 7 years.

Fruitier on the palate than the nose, nicely balanced and elegant. Earthy and spicy. Tangy and interesting. Feels like a Right Bank Bordeaux Red.

Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. A good sipping wine and very easy drinking, so watch out.

A blend of 56% Cabernet Franc, 31% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Sauvignon.

14.1% alcohol by volume.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with plums, currants, oak, chocolates, black pepper, light herbs and spices.

This young Pinot Noir from Napa Valley is already drinking nicely. Rich, juicy and fruit forward. Elegant and nicely balanced.

This Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is showing nice complexity with a soft mouthfeel.

Good right out of the bottle, and gets earthier as it opens up. It needs about an hour to open up properly, but we didn’t have that luxury as it finished way too quickly.

Would be nice to revisit it in a few years.

Easy drinking, and good by itself or with food. Paired very nicely with pizza.

Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime.

Complex and engaging, with a soft mouthfeel. Really enjoyed the nose here.

This 5 year old Cabernet based Bordeaux blend is already drinking beautifully, and will continue to age nicely in the next 7 to 10 years.

I've had a few different vintages of this Cabernet and it is very consistent.
