This young Cabernet Sauvignon from Mount Veeder is starting to drink very nicely now. Tangy and spicy. Complex with a nice mouthfeel. Tangy and engaging. Showing good structure, and needs a few more years in the bottle to mature properly. Fruity, but not in your face kind of wine. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Would be interesting to revisit it in 5 years. Needs a couple of hours in the decanter to open up properly. Impressively fresh and youthful for its age, with good structure and balance. The high alcohol is well integrated by now. I've had a few vintages of this wine and it is very consistent. Drinking at its peak, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 7 years. A gorgeous wine to drink by itself or with food. A blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 20% Mourvedre. Grapes from very old vines are aged in new French oak barrels for 14 months. 15% alcohol by volume. 93 points. $100.
